As we have written here, Google has literally stolen the thunder of Apple’s big event to be held today, Thursday, October 16, 2014. And man, you gotta give it to Google! The next generation, Motorola-built Nexus 6 is out! Sporting the latest or in Google’s words, the sweetest thing till date, Android Lollypop or ‘L’, it is finally unveiled for all of us to see, marvel and explore.
Dear Samsung and Apple, take a backseat because the biggest of smartphones aka phablet comes from Google. This almost 6 incher is bigger than the much-talked about Apple iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. This phone also bids the farewell to the association of Korean OEM, LG and Google. check also iOS 11
Google Nexus 6 is built by Motorola and will be available in Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe for sale by next month. As Nexus phones have always taken cue from the existing smartphones and then combined the best of each, this one is also no different in that way. Nexus Phone 6 is a rehashed version of Moto X, although bigger and better.
The outside metal finish, flash ring and Motorola logo are enough to remind you about Moto X but we are not complaining as Moto X itself is one of the classiest phones we have had till date so, you can easily imagine what Nexus 6 is going to be like.
Specs at a Glance
The new launch is an aberration from the classic design of Nexus product line. With this, Google officially enters into the phablet market, blurring the line of smartphones and phablet even further. The Google-Motorola baby is 5.9 inch’er’ and has the resolution of 1440×2590 with a density of 496ppi pixel. For some it might be uncomfortably large, but it seems that OEMs have taken the ‘size does matter’ rather seriously. If this is the present, the future of smartphones is going to be larger, we tell you!
The Nexus flagship packs Snapdragon 805 Qualcomm processor clocking in at 2.7GHZ and with 3GB RAM. The internal storage versions available with these smartphones are 32GB and 64GB. The rear camera is 13 megapixel whereas the front camera is 2 megapixel. The QuadHD display makes everything on screen, be it images or text look better and sharper despite the large size of screen. The flagship device can be available in white or ‘Midnight Blue’ color. Those who do not understand this fancy color scheme, it is ‘dark blue’ that went to OEM for little grooming.
The device runs on a whopping 3220mAh battery which contributes to its bulky size, making it around 184 grams in weight. Also check the LG G6 cases
Its OS, Android L was showcased in the last June and Nexus 6 is the first device to sport it. The OS is fresh and hosts brand-new features. Unlike earlier versions of Android, this OS is simpler and colorful. It also includes a battery-saving feature that can shoot up the life of battery for about 90 minutes. As Nexus 6 also features signature Turbo Chargers from Motorola, you can charge your phone for six hours of usage in just 15 minutes.

Price of Nexus 6
The recent updates suggest that the latest factory unlocked Nexus smartphone of 64GB will be launched at par with the price of iPhone 6 and at approximately, $649 whereas Google Nexus 6 without contract will be sold at $699. The interesting point here to note is that apart from Motorola and Google, the flagship will be sold via the U.S. carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile too for the first time ever. T-Mobile is even offering Nexus 6 flagship at zero down payment and with a two-year contract.
This is surprising because we all know that Google had hard time selling its Nexus line earlier. For Google, it is the priciest phone till date. Google has been stomaching the costs of giving away the juiciest of the Nexus smartphones at throwaway prices till now. But with Nexus 6, it seems that the American multinational has grown confident and do not want the promotion tactics to eat into its profits.
Availability of Google Nexus 6
In a joint press release, Motorola and Google have stated that the latest flagship can be preordered in late October at Google Play Store. The shipping will start in next month, November. American carrier, T-Mobile has given a specific date of November 12th, so, we can hope that we can see the flagship out-of-the-boxes around the same time.
So, now when the next big thing is out, we would certainly like to hear from you about this not-so-cheap Google Nexus 6. Will you people still make a beeline for this 5.9 inch smartphone at this cost? Do the features excite you enough to overlook your pocket and take the plunge?
